LGI provides aid transport to Romania

HERRENBERG/ROMANIA. Also in the year 2019 LGI Logistics Group International GmbH supports a campaign of the association Angels and has taken over the aid transport to a social station for children in Romania. On 29th November, the truck of the logistics provider arrivced near Herrenberg to collect donations of kind fron the storage sites of the Angels Association.
Rows and rows of cartons with toys, clothes and other useful object thus come to children from poor backgrounds in Romania. Volunteers from the Angels Association helped to load the LGI truck.
Throughout the year the association had collected cartons of shoes, blankets and warm clothing for the winter. Even bicycles, househould items and other electronic devices were collected for the donations in kind. “We are very happy to have been able to support this great event again this year”, says Zvonko Rezo, Head of long-distance traffic at LGI.
On 1st December, the 40-ton truck started its 1750-kilometre journey to the village Roman in the Romanian region of Moldova. Just three days later, the transport arrived at the childrens’ homes. In 2015, 2016 and 2018, LGI also provided a truck and a driver for the transport to the needy children in Romania.
“With the aid transport we support the children with daily utensils”, says the chairman of the association Angelika Knappe. The Angels have been supporting children from Roman since 2001. Most of them come frome a slum area. In addition to the one aid transport a year, the work of the Angels association gives 80 children and young people in the social station the prospect of a better future because they can go to kindergarten or school. Due to high unemployment, many families in Romania live a life of privation.
