LGI takes over former ITG site
GOMARINGEN. At the end of November 2018, LGI Logistics Group International GmbH took over the former ITG site in Gomaringen. Until recently, the LGI subsidiary used the 11,000 m² logistics area. The logistics processing for the customer Bosch has moved from the LGI site in Reutlingen (Max-Planck-Straße) to Gomaringen.
The LGI subsidiary ITG operated the site in Gomaringen near Reutlingen until 2016. After the departure, the area was vacant for some time until the mother company used the hall for the first time as an overhang warehouse for empties from Reutlingen. „In 2017, we then took over a logistics processing for a German industrial group,” says site manager Thomas Ott. To this day, individual steel parts are stored in Gomaringen, packed seaworthy and shipped directly to hotels or construction sites. Up to 80 percent of the goods are actually shipped by sea.
For the customer Bosch AE (Automotive Electronic) LGI is responsible for the production supply of the Bosch factories in Reutlingen. LGI stores the goods, such as holders for control units, and sends them on demand to the factories. “There were several reasons for moving from the site in Reutlingen to Gomaringen,” says Ott. In the automatic high-bay warehouse from the 1980s, system malfunctions occurred almost daily. This made everyday business unnecessarily difficult for the employees on site. “With the narrow-bay warehouse (see picture) in Gomaringen, we no longer have this challenge,” says warehouse manager Ivan Mravunac.
